 Misson Statement

“Our goal is to provide for the safety and security of the citizens of the Village of Bay View” 

The men and women of the Bay View Police Department are dedicated to providing professional police service.

We provide services such as: criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, residence checks, business checks, and assisting the Bay View Fire Department on rescue calls.

All officers undergo yearly training in firearms and in a variety of topics as mandated by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission.

  • Graduate of Lorain County Community College with an Associate of Arts in Police Science

Assistant Chief James Lochotzki

  • Serving BVPD since 2000
  • Over thirty years of law enforcement experience
  • Certified emergency responder
  • Field Training Officer

Officer Jay Danklefsen

  • Serving BVPD since January 2019
  • Graduate of Sandusky Career Center Police Academy

Officer Glenn Schenk

  • Serving BVPD since 2004
  • Over twenty years of law enforcement experience in Ohio, Michigan and North Carolina
  • Graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice (Cum Laude)
  • Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy unit/police academy instructor
  • Field Training Officer

Officer Zachery Tyson

  • Serving BVPD since July 2019
  • Graduate of Sandusky Career Center Police Academy
  • Recipient of the Andy Dunn Scholarship

Officer Travis Wright
